Mission Trip to Botswana, Africa Paid in FULL!
April 30, 2008 by Jesus Follower
All I can say is God is good! He is so good!
I got an e-mail this afternoon from our outreach minister that my $375 balance was being paid in full by someone anonymously. How awesome is that? Pretty amazing to me.
I have wanted to go to Africa for a long time now. Our church has been going on mission trips to Botswana for a few years now. In the past when the opportunity to go came up, I blew it off since I knew I could not come up with the money to go.
At the end of last year when news came up that our church would be going twice this year to Old Naledi in Botswana, I was so excited. Our church would be going to help our new sister church, Old Naledi Baptist Fellowship Church. After an amazing GOD filled sermon our lead pastor gave, I KNEW I was to go on one of the upcoming mission trips to Botswana.
Through this sermon, I felt like the Lord was telling me to not worry about the impossible, because with God, ALL things are possible. (Philippians 4:13)
I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
After I made the commitment to go, and started sharing my desire to go, I was so at peace with the fact that the Lord would provide me the financial means to go. I knew that we could not afford a $3,050 trip. With our family being a one income family, two car payments, and my daughter’s student loans to pay for, there was no way we could afford for me to go.
I prayed, and prayed and prayed some more. I stayed in The Word and stayed before Him and kept feeling peaceful. I knew that things would work out. A few weeks ago I sent out 45 letters, and an e-mail asking for donations to help sponsor me on my very first (of many I am sure) mission trip to Botswana, Africa. At first the response was very overwhelming. I got check after check and it seemed like things were working out after all. Then the checks pretty much stopped and I had $1,000 left I still needed, and ONLY one week to collect the rest before our deadline.
Well, God knew the answer already, but I didn’t. I kept praying, and one by one, I got more donations. Then I was left with a very resonable amount of money that we could come up with. The US government is sending out tax rebate checks this week, and we had already had this money spent on bills, but we had decided that since I had a balance left on my Africa mission trip, we would use that money to pay it off. Well, the Lord has blessed us and we will not have to do that after all.
These verses have really been a blessing to me over the past few weeks.
John 14:13
And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.John 15:16
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit—fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
John 16:23
In that day you will no longer ask me anything. I tell you the truth, my Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.
Thank you all who have made donations and or have been praying for me. You have been such a HUGE blessing to me and my family. I am so excited about what the Lord will do when we go to Africa in August.
Have a wonderful rest of the week.
Blessings,
Kim

i am so excited for you, mom!!
wow. the lord really is amazing.
i love you.
I have to admit…
…that is really great!
What wonderful news! I am so glad God provided this for you.
It´s so good to read this kind of testimony! Glory to the Lord!! God is good Kim, God is good.
I am so happy for you! I understand the feeling you have when God calls you to the mission field. The urgency to just go and do Gods work. I decided two months ago that I am going to South Africa in October. Satan doesn’t want me to go and has been discouraging me with the cost and time limit. I know God will work it out. I would ask though that you pray for me as I prepare to go, that I will know what he wants me to do to prepare. I will pray for you! A young lady at the church we went to when we lived in Michigan went on a mission trip to Botswana. When she came back she said that the experience changed her life forever. I am a pastors wife and know I shouldn’t worry about the details but I am also human and am just as vulnerable to the same emotions as everyone else. May God bless you and the work he has for you. Hi Kim,
I wanted to tell you that you have encouraged me greatly. I am going to Botswana Africa for a 30 scouting trip on July 28 2008. To see if this is where God is calling me to be a full time missionary.
By now you have returned back to the states. I would enjoy hearing about your trip. I would like to know things that you were not prepared for and the wonderful ways you were blessed during your trip.
Blessings in the name of Jesus.
